The Family Crisis Council of Rowan County has many opportunities for volunteers to be involved. These opportunities include but are not limited to:

Rape Responders - a rape responder is a person who responds to the hospital when there has been a report of a sexual assault. They provide the victim with moral support and information regarding the services that are available to help them through their traumatic experience.

Shelter Support - this person would provide much needed support inside the shelter. They could assist with cooking, babysitting, spending time with clients and/ or answering phones.

Crisis Line Support - this person would be trained to answer the crisis line during staff meetings, holidays, and high volume call times.

Maintenance Help - if any one has experience in house upkeep, repairs, or lawn work their talents can be used in this area.

Babysitting for Support Groups - this person would assist with babysitting for the five and under children who attend support group with their mothers.

Special Events - volunteers are needed to help with community awareness events in various areas.

Presentations - trained volunteers will be asked to assist with presentations in the community at schools, churches, business, and United Way presentations

Donations - volunteers are always need to help obtain, log, and sort donations that come in from the community.

Court Advocate - committed and dedicated volunteers can be used in our court advocacy program by going to court and assisting the victims with protective order paperwork, understanding the legal system and moral support.

Board Member - when there is an opening on the board that governs the operation of our agency, a volunteer is needed to serve in this very important leadership capacity.

We are not limited to the above list. Each person who volunteers with our agency has their own unique talents that may be very valuable to our agency. Please contact us to let us know if there is an area that interests you not listed above.
